A properly illuminated bathroom generally includes a combination of light sources that work together to reduce the harsh glare and shadowing effect that is caused by incorrect lighting. The effect should serve to enhance the look of the room, be bright enough to perform grooming tasks such as cosmetic application and shaving while allowing one to view oneself in the most complimentary light. The most basic components of bathroom lighting include a ceiling light source, wall lamps on the sides and top of the mirror and a wet location ceiling fixture for the shower or bathtub area.
